Summer School Information

Cost

$250 per .5 credit course

Please note:

  • Enrollment fees are non-refundable after June 12
  • The last day to drop a summer course is June 19
  • Courses must have at least 3 students enrolled in order to run

Enrollment for Grades 9–12 (Students must have completed 9th grade)

MVA Summer School provides a flexible online learning option while still offering structure and support to help students complete their coursework successfully. Earn a half credit in June or complete a full credit across June and July.

Summer School Sessions

Session 1: June 1 – June 26
Session 2: June 29 – July 24

1.0 Credit Courses
Full-year (1.0 credit) courses run across both sessions:

  • June (Session 1): First Semester
  • July (Session 2): Second Semester

Students must participate in both sessions to complete a 1.0 credit course.

0.5 Credit Courses
Half-credit (.5) courses are completed during Session 1 (June).

  • Participation Guidelines

    • Course Options: 
      Students may enroll in one full credit (1.0) course running June–July or half credit (0.5) courses during the June session. 

    • Accelerated Learning: 
      Summer courses condense a semester of learning into a shorter timeline. Students should plan to dedicate approximately 3–4 hours per day to coursework. 

    • Live Instruction: 
      Classes include live Zoom sessions one to two times per week, along with independent online coursework. 

    • Structured Pace: 
      Students receive a weekly pace chart to help them stay on track and complete the course within the summer session. 

    • Teacher Support: 
      Instruction is provided through a combination of live teaching and independent learning activities, with teachers available through email, messaging, phone, and the online classroom.  

    • Family Partnership: 
      Parents/guardians receive an observer account so they can log in, monitor progress, and support their student. 

    • Orientation for New Students: 
      Students new to Manhattan Virtual Academy will attend a short online orientation on June 1st at 9:00am. Zoom link will be sent out.
