At Manhattan Virtual Academy, we believe every student deserves the support they need to succeed. Our team provides individualized Special Education services, Section 504 accommodations, and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) support to help each learner reach their goals. We work closely with families to ensure students receive appropriate services, tailored instruction, and meaningful access to their education. Special Education Support
We strive to collaborate with our families and staff to ensure students with Individuallized Education Programs (IEPs) are supported in a virtual learning environement. Individualized support for students with IEPs is provided by collaboration with families and tailoring instruction to meet each learner’s unique goals in a virtual setting.
How we do it:
- conduct initial consultation with families about what virtual learning looks like
- review previous or current IEPs with listed services, placement & accommodations
- determine course selection and collaborate with staff on learning needs
- provide direct instruction (synchronous & asychronous) depending on student needs
- continue to collaborate with family and teachers to ensure progress
Special Education in a virtual setting may look different than in a traditional classroom, but students can still be highly successful with the right support. At MVA, we provide individualized services, accommodations, and collaboration with families to ensure every learner has what they need to grow. If you’d like to learn more about how we can support your student, please reach out to our specialized staff for guidance and resources.

Section 504
We work closely with families and staff to make sure students with Section 504 plans have the accommodations they need to fully access learning in a virtual environment. Our focus is on removing barriers so students can engage meaningfully in their courses and build on their strengths in collaboration with families and teachers.
How we support 504 plans:
- meet with families to review the 504 plan and discuss how accommodations look in an online setting
- ensure accommodations are built into daily coursework and assessments
- collaborate with teachers to adjust instruction and materials as needed
- check in regularly with families and staff to monitor effectiveness and make adjustments
At MVA, Section 504 plans are an essential part of making sure students have equal access and opportunities to succeed. Our specialized staff are here to answer questions and provide guidance if you’d like to learn more about how we can support your student.
